The main part of the property dates from the Victorian Era. A two storey purpose built side wing was added in the 1980’s. The current owners of the property substantially refurbished the building before re-opening it in 2010. When it was refurbished particular attention was paid to ensure it had the ameneties, decoration, furniture and fittings that would best meet the needs of people who were likely to come and live there. This included a lift, assisted baths and showers and handrails. It was decorated and furnished to feel as homely and be safe as possible. The Property benefits from a car park and terraced garden and is well positioned on a hill side with beautiful views overlooking the Alkham Valley.
There are 26 bedrooms at Ivybank. 9 are on the ground floor and 17 on the second floor. A lift is situated near the dining area to make it as easy as possible for people to access both floors. There is one double room. These can be used by couples who would like to live at Ivybank, or by people who would feel more comfortable sharing a room with another resident. People only share rooms where they have specifically indicated that this is what they want to do. 20 rooms have en-suite facilities. There are fully accessible toilets conveniently located close to shared areas. Two assisted baths and a walk in shower are sited near bedrooms. We provide bedroom furniture and an armchair in each room. We encourage people who come to live with us to bring things with them that make them feel at home. This can be furniture, pictures or ornaments. We always discuss this before anybody moves in.
There is a shared lounge and dining area in the home. We have created a range of seating areas inside and outside the home for the people who live with us, and their visitors, to enjoy.
There is a terraced garden to the rear of the property that provides a pleasant outlook from that part of the building.
We have an on-going programme of planned maintenance to ensure that the high standard of decoration and furnishings is maintained.
