At Ivybank, we believe that for people to be happy and healthy they must be treated in a way that promotes their privacy, dignity and independence. This means that we take care and time to find out how people want to be cared for and we follow those wishes. For example we address people in the way they prefer, we always make arrangements for visiting health professionals to see people in private, we don’t talk about people in front of others, we don’t share information unless people say we can or it is necessary for their safety. It also means that we treat everyone as an individual and we make the routines of the home flexible to meet the wishes of people who live at Ivybank. We encourage people to do as much as possible for themselves and to make as many choices as possible about their lives, and their care. It also means that we will not discriminate against anybody because of their race, culture, gender, sexuality, age, disability or religious beliefs. We will promote the right of each person to live the lifestyle they choose, and to respect the choices of others.
